Tomorrow's outcomes. Here today at Baltimore Washington Medical Center.

A community hospital located in Anne Arundel County, situated between Baltimore, Annapolis, and Washington, D.C., Baltimore Washington Medical Center is a 293-bed facility with over 600 physicians on the medical staff. Its numerous areas of specialization include cardiology, orthopaedics, emergency care, vascular, stroke, geriatrics, and oncology.

Baltimore Washington Medical Center offers specialty care in over 50 areas, including:

  • Provides coordinated services of surgical oncologists and breast surgeons from Baltimore Washington Medical Center as well as the Greenebaum Cancer Center at UMMC. Tate offers patients access to primary care physicians, surgeons, radiologists, pathologists, radiation oncologists, medical oncologists, surgical oncologists and nurse coordinators in a single location. The program encourages a continuous sharing of best practices among physicians at the two facilities and allows patients being treated at Tate to be transferred for specialty care, diagnostic procedures or clinical trials more expeditiously.
  • This center features a multidisciplinary approach with a specific point of entry into the program and ongoing coordination through all phases of screening, diagnosis, and treatment. The center provides comprehensive diagnostic services, including mammography, ultrasound, breast MRI, breast MRI biopsy, stereotactic biopsy, and sentinel node biopsy as well as genetic counseling. The center also provides education and outreach services targeting breast disease.
  • Our skilled team of orthopedic surgeons has more than 150 years of combined surgical experience. Advanced surgical techniques include minimally invasive approaches for total hip and knee replacements, and hemiarthroplasties for partial replacement of the knee joint. We also utilize the latest replacement technologies to enhance the strength and durability of newly replaced joints.
  • Specializing in minimally invasive techniques and pain management therapies, The Spine and Pain Center uses a multidisciplinary triage approach to evaluate all treatment options before a surgical decision is made. Our professionals include fellowship-trained and board-certified orthopedic surgeons, neurosurgeons, and specialty-trained pain practitioners, and a dedicated nurse practitioner who coordinates inpatient care, support services, and patient education.
  • A nationally renowned program that features clinical space with a full-service vascular laboratory for evaluation and treatment of a wide range of vascular conditions, including PAD and AAA, arterial and venous diseases, and renovascular hypertension. The center also offers renal and endovascular therapy. A new endovascular surgical suite offers physicians the opportunity to utilize the latest technology for minimally invasive vascular treatments.
  • Our services include cardiac catheterization, primary (emergent) angioplasty for acute heart attacks, implantation of pacemakers and internal defibrillators, echocardiography, cardioversion, electrophysiology, and implantation of biventricular pacemakers for the treatment of congestive heart failure. We also offer a number of outpatient evaluative services, including tilt-table, cardiac stress testing, electrocardiography and 24-hour rhythm monitoring. The department offers a 30-bed acute care unit as well as a Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation Department, which promotes cardiovascular endurance and muscular strength as a means of improving heart health.
  • One of the busiest in the state, our ED features the revolutionary InstaCare system which reduces delays and streamlines key ancillary processes to create a system in which providers can consistently see patients within minutes of arrival.

  • Vascular – A new endovascular surgical suite brings to the region the latest technology for minimally invasive vascular treatments. It includes a highly advanced patient monitoring system and state-of-the-art intravascular ultrasound system. BWMC is one of the first locations in the country to combine these technologies in a single, interventional operating room.
  • Cardiac – A newly renovated Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory and a 12-bed Coronary Care Unit allows us to provide a wide range of services for patients with heart disease or disorders. A new digital imaging system is the hallmark of the renovation, enhancing physicians’ capabilities to diagnose and treat heart disease.
