The Civista Center for Orthopedics Joint Replacement Program features a dedicated orthopedic unit and pre-op educational sessions to prepare patients for surgery. Recent capital improvements include HD video equipment and Hana table for anterior total hip replacement procedures.

In 2008, Civista Medical Center earned a Primary Stroke Center designation, and is among only 27 Maryland hospitals to receive this designation granted by the Maryland Institute for Emergency Medical Services Systems (MIEMSS).

Our family-friendly birthing center welcomes over 800 newborns each year, and provides a comprehensive range of services from delivery to postnatal care. The unit features all-private patient rooms including the Birthing Center and postpartum rooms, and ranked in the 90th percentile in the Press Ganey 2009 patient satisfaction survey. Additionally, all Birthing Center nurses are NRP certified, and participate in STABLE and PeriFACTs programs and Civista offers 24 hour in-house pediatric hospitalist coverage.

Established in 2007, OB/GYN Associates in Waldorf, MD is known for unparalleled medical care providing a comprehensive range of obstetrical and gynecological services. In 2011, we added an additional location in La Plata, MD. What began as a one-physician practice has since expanded to three - and we're still growing.

In addition to complex surgical procedures performed at Civista Medical Center, our outpatient ambulatory Surgery Center in Waldorf, MD is staffed by a highly skilled team trained in surgical and recovery care, and offers a wide range of surgical services in many specialty areas.

In 2008, Civista Medical Center completed an $82 million expansion doubling the size of our Emergency Department, adding 29 private treatment rooms comprised of seven "fast-track" exam, 12 acute examination, four dedicated trauma, two pediatric exam, two OB/GYN and two secure holding rooms. Capital Improvements
- In 2008, Civista Medical Center completed the largest expansion in the center's history—an $82 million dollar project that includes a new patient tower with 60 private rooms; an Emergency Department that doubled in size, adding 29 private treatment rooms; and four new operating rooms with two minor procedure rooms.
- Civista Medical Center welcomed the addition of a number of technical enhancements including the new Fuji picture archiving and communications system (PACS), a state-of-the-art 64-slice CT scanner, and physicians' remote access to medical records.
